James Petras (1937-2026)

James Petras was a Greek-American sociologist and academic specialising in Latin American and Caribbean politics – particularly imperialism, globalisation, and leftist social movements. He was the Bartle Professor (Emeritus) of Sociology at Binghamton University, New York. Over his career, he authored more than 60 books, over 600 articles in professional journals, and over 2000 articles across online platforms – with his commentary being widely carried both in print and in online media around the world.
