Tony Raful

Dominican Republic

Tony Raful Tejada is a Dominican poet, essayist, academic, and politician. He pursued Political Science at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), where he later taught in the Faculty of Legal Sciences and earned a doctorate in law. Raful’s literary career took shape within the University Cultural Movement, and over the years, he has built a substantial body of work across poetry, essays, and historical writing. He has also had a significant political and public service career. A long-time member, and later president, of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), he served three terms as a Deputy to the National Congress representing Santo Domingo.
