Ignacio Ramonet

Ignacio Ramonet is a Spanish academic and journalist. Based out of Paris, he is a leading voice on Latin American affairs. Best known for his long tenure as director of Le Monde diplomatique (1990–2008), Ramonet now leads its Spanish edition and continues to shape global conversations on politics and media. Over the years, he’s conducted in-depth interviews with some of Latin America’s most influential leaders, including Fidel Castro (resulting in the widely translated Fidel Castro: My Life) and Hugo Chávez, with whom he collaborated on Hugo Chávez: My First Life. Altogether, he has authored around twenty books across multiple languages. Further, he is one of the founders of the non-governmental organization Media Watch Global, and its president.
