Luis Gomes Soromenho

Luis Filipe Soromenho Gomes is a politician, academic, and regional development specialist affiliated with the centre-right Social Democratic Party (PSD). He served as President (Mayor) of the Municipality of Vila Real de Santo António from 2005 to 2017, and later became a deputy in Portugal’s Assembly of the Republic, representing the Faro district in the XV Legislature. In parliament, he worked on issues related to local government, territorial planning, and the environment. He has also been active at the European level as a member of the Committee of the Regions of the European Union. Beyond politics, he has been actively involved in collaborations promoting Portugal–Cuba solidarity and exchange initiatives.
