Raúl Pérez Torres is an Ecuadorian writer, cultural manager, and former Minister of Culture and Heritage of Ecuador. He is known as one of Ecuador’s most important contemporary voices in narrative fiction. His work spans short stories, novels, poetry, and essays. He has received major international recognition for his writing, including his award-winning collection ‘En la noche y en la niebla’ and his story ‘Sólo cenizas hallarás’. Alongside his literary career, he has played a significant role in public service, having served as president of the Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana from 2000 to 2019 and as Ecuador’s Minister of Culture and Heritage from 2017 to 2019.
