Eduardo Galeano was a Uruguayan journalist and writer widely regarded as one of the most influential literary voices of Latin America. His most famous works include the ‘Open Veins of Latin America‘ (1971) and the trilogy ‘Memory of Fire‘ (1982). After the military coup in Uruguay in 1973, Galeano was imprisoned and forced into exile in Argentina and later Spain, where he continued writing extensively on colonialism, inequality, and Latin American identity.
