Felipe Pétriz Calvo

Felipe Pétriz Calvo is a Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Zaragoza, Spain. He was elected rector of the University of Zaragoza, a position he held from the years 2000 to 2008. Further in his career, he joined the General State Administration – working with the Ministry and Science and Innovation and then with the Ministry of Education. In 2009, he was appointed as the Secreatary of State for Research of Spain, a position he held till 2011.

- Grand Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise (2021, awarded by the Council of Ministers of Spain through Royal Decree 1204/2021, in recognition of his academic merits and career in higher education
- “Antonio Muñoz Porcar” Prize from the School of Engineering and Architecture (EINA) (2021), awarded at the 1st edition of the EINA Annual Awards, recognizing his commitment to university values and his contribution to society
- Recognition as Rector of the University of Zaragoza (2000–2008), elected rector in 2000 with 63% of the votes and re-elected in 2004, he led the university until 2008, being recognized for his management in modernization and international projection
